Believer’s Family Falls Apart Because of Persecutions

07/27/2018Jiang Tao |

Bitter Winter blue logoA member of The Church of Almighty God had to flee his home and lost his family after his name has been put on the most-wanted list.

The name of Wang Kai (pseudonym), a member of The Church of Almighty God from Shangqiu city, Henan, was put on the list of wanted criminals because of his religious belief and following a tip-off to the police. As a result, he continues to live on the run, and his family has fallen apart.

On June 9, 2018, after an unsuccessful attempt by the police to capture Wang Kai, his photo was posted online, listing him as a wanted criminal. The police regularly harassed Wang Kai’s elderly parents asking about his whereabouts and putting them under strict surveillance, with an aim to coerce Wang Kai into returning home and surrendering to authorities.

Unable to bear the intense persecution by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), and wanting to protect her children, Wang Kai’s wife filed for divorce.

Wang Kai continues to live on the run, continually concerned for the safety of his parents, and suffering from the pain of having his family wrenched apart.

The Church of Almighty God, a Chinese Christian new religious movement,  is one of the most severely persecuted churches in China. Relatives of many Church members initially supported their belief in God, however, fearing the CCP’s persecution, some eventually became opposed to their religious activities.
