The popular name (derived from the date of its establishment, June 10, 1999) of the operative arm of the Central leading group for preventing and handling the xie jiao question. Originally established to fight Falun Gong, it extended its operations to all xie jiao and focused in particular on The Church of Almighty God. It grew to include some 15,000 officers throughout all China. On March 19, 2018, it was announced that the central Office 610 will be discontinued as such and its functions transferred to staff of the Central Political and Legal Affairs Commission, as well as Ministry of Public Security.
