Video cameras, false “cleaners,” and police visits to members of his church try to continuously harass the indomitable preacher.

“Bitter Winter” has closely followed the saga of Yunnan preacher Chang Hao, the “Christian anti-COVID mask man” who became popular by distributing masks inscribed with Bible verses and incurred the wrath of the CCP.
On October 15, 2024, while he was conducting baptisms with well-known pastor John Cao, Brother Chang was arrested and put in administrative detention for twelve days. He was released on October 27.
As reported by his co-religionists, both Brother Chang and Zhenxiong Thanksgiving Reformed Church where he preaches are kept under heavy surveillance.
The police installed three surveillance cameras to monitor Brother Chang and the church, including at the door of the preacher’s home. False “cleaners” he had not asked to come to his home also visited him, obviously to spy on behalf of the authorities.
Police officers often go to the homes of church members, trying to persuade them to withdraw from the church WeChat group and uninstall the Bible and other Christian applications from their phones. When they refuse, their cell phones are confiscated.
They are also warned that they should stop having contacts with Brother Chang—or else.
