(小群教會). One of the names (derived from their hymnal) designating a large Chinese Christian movement (or, rather, group of movements) founded in the 1920s by Watchman Nee (Ni Tuosheng, 倪柝聲, 1903–1972), who had been in touch with one of the branches of the Brethren movement in the UK, but later decided to establish an independent Chinese organization. The movement is also known as Local Church. The CCP arrested Nee in 1952 and kept him in jail until his death in 1972, but its main disciple, Witness Lee (Li Changshou, 李常受, 1905–1997), managed to escape to Taiwan and reorganize a movement there.
