The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) does not forget and does not forgive.

On April 3, 2022, a Sunday gathering of Taiyuan Xuncheng Reformed Church at the restaurant in the Home Inn on South Neihuan Street, Yingze District, Taiyuan City, Shanxi, was raided by the police. Some 25 Christians were detained for “participating in the  activities of a social organization after it was banned.”

They reported that they were mistreated by the police after they refused to sign a statement that they will no longer participate in the activities of the banned Xuncheng Reformed Church. They were sentenced to fifteen days of administrative detention and a fine of 500 yuan.

However, since the COVID-19 pandemic made the detention unadvisable, they were asked to pay the fine and allowed to go home.

But they were not forgotten nor forgiven. In September 2024, Sister Xu Cuili was taken from her home to purge her fifteen days of administrative detention.

Now, on October 21, Feng Junjun was also detained and sent to the Taiyuan City Detention Center. One by one, all those who participated in the April 3, 2022, meeting are being sent to purge their fifteen days.

Local believers understand that it is not about the fifteen days. It is about sending Xuncheng Reformed Church a message that all its members are under surveillance and its activities will not be tolerated.
